Climate change threatens the progress we have made toward a world free from poverty and inequality. Communities who have made positive transformations through BRAC’s proven anti-poverty solutions face risks from a changing climate.
Efforts are underway to build on existing programmes in microfinance, agriculture, youth and ultra-poor Graduation programmes – to accelerate climate change adaptation, informed by both science and local knowledge. At the same time, we are co-creating with partners a “big bet” on climate change adaptation that focuses on enabling women smallholder farmers to lift themselves and their families out of climate vulnerability. We aim to generate evidence and share knowledge on effective adaptation solutions across the global community.
OUR APPROACH
OUR STRATEGIC VISION

OUR STRATEGIC VISION

Innovative, locally-led adaptation at scale.
Enabling women smallholder farmers, in particular, to lift themselves and their families out of climate vulnerability through climate information, production and post- production services, financial services, and a supportive enabling environment.

Mainstreaming climate change adaptation into development programmes
Integrating climate change adaptation across our programming, based on local and indigenous knowledge and best available science, including climate information and data

Strengthen knowledge, learning, and communication
Strengthening our knowledge and learning about adaptation programming to improve and scale our programmes as well as to contribute to global learning and policies about adaptation.

Drive policy action for climate resilience
Use evidence from our programmes to inform policymakers and decision-makers, guiding the development of more effective, climate-resilient, and pro-poor policies and programmes.
