Young women learning about gender

Uganda

BRAC began its journey in Uganda in 2006. Home to 48.5 million people, Uganda has one of the youngest populations in the world. Nearly half the population is under age 15. It also hosts one of the world’s largest refugee populations. Uganda has become BRAC’s largest operation outside Bangladesh.

While it’s one of East Africa’s growing economies, about 60% of people in Uganda still live in poverty. Many families struggle to access education, food, healthcare, and stable income. BRAC works across 124 districts to support women and families as they forge a pathway out of poverty.

UGANDA

Uganda is a landlocked country in East Africa known for its rich natural resources and strong agricultural roots. One of Africa’s emerging markets, it’s also one of the youngest countries in the world. A new generation is ready to shape what comes next.

While agriculture drives much of the economy, many Ugandans today face challenges. This includes limited access to healthcare, education, and employment. With the right support and opportunities, Uganda’s youth have the power to shape a more equitable future.
