Eveon Williams bakes bread, cookies and other delicacies she sells to her classmates and in her community. Only 15 years old, she has been learning how to make milk candy and bake for the last three years.

Eveon learned how to earn from her baking endeavours and save money through the livelihood skills training programme at BRAC Liberia’s Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescent (ELA) programme. Starting off by making milk candy, she switched to baking cookies with the help of ELA’s startup kit which included a bag of flour, a bucket of sugar, butter, and other baking materials.

The proceeds from selling her baked goods help Evelyn contribute at least 40 percent of her school fees, while her father takes care of the rest. Eveon lives in the Cement Hill community with her parents, who are grateful to BRAC ELA for helping their daughter. They encourage this programme for adolescents to extend to other communities.
